Smith’s Primary Care & Wellness is proud to celebrate a significant milestone as Co-Owners Stephanie Smith Miles, NP, and Cherese Smith Blue were honored as the inaugural recipients of the Community Economic Impact Award at the first annual Leading Ladies Luncheon in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Being selected as the first-ever recipients of this award is an honor that carries tremendous meaning. It recognizes not only the businesses we have built, but the opportunities we have created, the services we provide, and the lasting impact we are making within our community.
More Than a Primary Care Practice
When we founded Smith’s Primary Care & Wellness, our vision was to create a different kind of healthcare experience—one centered around accessibility, relationships, whole-person care, and putting people first.
Through our Direct Primary Care model, we have worked to make healthcare more accessible by providing affordable membership options, greater access to providers, and care without many of the traditional barriers associated with insurance-based healthcare.
But our vision didn’t stop with physical health.
Caring for the Whole Person
An important part of the Smith’s Primary Care & Wellness story is our mental health counseling component, led by licensed clinical mental health therapist Cherese Smith Blue.
We recognize that physical health and mental well-being are deeply connected. By incorporating mental health counseling into our broader wellness vision, we are able to address another important dimension of our community’s health.
From primary care and preventive health to emotional and mental well-being, our goal has always been to create a safe, supportive space where people can receive care for the person—not simply treat a diagnosis.
This expanded approach allows us to serve our community in a way that reflects what we believe healthcare should be: accessible, compassionate, connected, and centered around the individual.
Creating Economic & Community Impact
We believe that building a successful healthcare business can create a ripple effect far beyond the services provided inside our office.
Our growth creates opportunities for employment, partnerships, professional development, and collaboration with other businesses and organizations in our community.
At the same time, providing accessible primary care and mental health services contributes to a healthier community—because community wellness and economic wellness are interconnected.
That is what makes the Community Economic Impact Award especially meaningful to us.
An Inaugural Honor
The Leading Ladies Luncheon celebrates women who are leading, inspiring, and empowering their communities, while supporting the Queen Juneteenth Scholarship Program and scholarships for young women attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
To be recognized during the inaugural year of the Leading Ladies Luncheon—and to become the first recipients of the Community Economic Impact Award—is a milestone we will always remember.
We understand that being first is not simply an accomplishment. It is also a responsibility.
It challenges us to continue building, continue serving, and continue creating opportunities for those who come behind us.

As sisters, entrepreneurs, and healthcare professionals, our journey has been built on a
shared belief that we can create businesses that are both successful and impactful.
This award reminds us that entrepreneurship isn’t simply about what we build for ourselves.
It’s about what our business make possible for others.
